“The Ultimate Fighter 10″ coaches Mike van Arsdale and Tiki Ghosn still jawing
by Steven Marrocco on Mar 11, 2010 at 9:10 pm ET
The bad blood between “The Ultimate Fighter 10″ head coaches Rashad Evans and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson spilled down to the assistant coaching staff, and it hasn’t gone away since.

In a recent appearance on MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio), Mike van Arsdale (8-5), Evans’ wrestling coach on the show, said he’s been itching to get a fight with Jackson’s striking coach Tiki Ghosn (11-7).

“He’s one of two people in this earth that I would beat up just for the fun of it,” van Arsdale said. “Hopefully, he’ll come around and make the mistake of signing up.”

During the show, Van Arsdale and Ghosn did some verbal sparring in between Evans and Jackson’s incessant face-off sessions.

On UFC president Dana White’s UFC 100 video blog, the assistant coaches jibed about a possible fight in the octagon. Van Arsdale later slung a few arrows in Ghosn’s direction in White’s UFC 108 blog.

There are two sides to why the two haven’t come to the table for a fight, and it’s a weighty issue; they’re in different classes. Van Arsdale fights at 205 pounds and Ghosn at 170 pounds.

And of course, they can’t agree on whom should bulk up and whom should get smaller.

Van Arsdale said Ghosn, for reasons unknown, became bent on fighting him during the show. But when it came to putting together an actual fight, the welterweight made unreasonable demands when it came to weight.

“When you call a guy out like that, you don’t ask him to cut 30 pounds,” van Arsdale said. “He’s the one asking me to fight and I’m like, ‘OK,’ … but then he asked me to cut a lot of weight, to come down to like 180 (pounds), and I’m like 210 (pounds).

“I’m like, ‘No way. I might meet you at 195, but that’s it.’”

Ghosn, unsurprisingly, disputes that recollection.

“First of all, the whole story is (that) van Arsdale got mad because I kept picking on him because we found out he’s a cross-dresser,” Ghosn told MMAjunkie.com. “So he got so booty-hurt that he called me out to fight.

“So I said, ‘Alright, let’s fight.’ He said, ‘Let’s box after the show.’ I said, ‘[Expletive] sparring; why do you want to spar me? I’m a Thai boxer; you’re going to get your ass kicked. Why don’t we just fight MMA so you have a chance?’ So van Arsdale says, ‘OK, let’s do that.’”

It wasn’t that easy, though.

“I weigh 183 pounds,” Ghosn said. “I said, ‘Can you get down [to 185 pounds]?’ He was already going down to 185. He said he can’t do 185 after I’ve heard from his whole camp that he’s trying to lean out and do 185.

“He decided to get cold feet when I called him out.”

Ghosn said he offered to gain weight, but van Arsdale made more excuses.

Van Arsdale countered there’s nothing holding him back.

“I’d fight him on the drop of a dime, but he won’t do it,” van Arsdale said. “I don’t know what’s wrong with that guy, man.”

So far, neither has heard from the UFC.

“He was talking [expletive] about me on the other blog saying I was fat,” Ghosn said. “Yeah, I’m fat. I’m trying to come up in weight to fight you because you’re too big of a [expletive] to cut the weight.

“The ball’s in his court. If he gets enough time and actually trains, maybe he can cut the weight. Maybe he needs to quit dressing like a chick and putting on makeup and we can get something going.”

Van Arsdale has not fought since April 2006, when he lost by submission to Matt Lindland. Ghosn, meanwhile, fought this past May and won a decision over journeyman Brian Warren.

Where would this fight happen? Who knows.

But at this rate, the drama of “TUF 10″ might never end.
